The objective of the workshop was to enhance knowledge and skill among the staff nurses from government and private Hospitals at 沙巴体育 and Mangalore. Dr. Annamma Kurien, Associate Dean, 沙巴体育 Melaka Medical College, and President of Hemophilia Society, 沙巴体育 welcomed the gathering and gave an overview about the workshop. She also emphasized the importance of nursing care for patients with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. The Chief Guest, Dr. Poornima Baliga, Dean, KMC, 沙巴体育 emphasized the importance of comprehensive health care approach in identification and management of hemophilia and she emphasized the need for prophylactic care. The workshop was unwrapped by the discussion on the introduction to hemophilia and other bleeding disorders by Dr. Annamma Kurien. Ms. Penny McCarthy had an interactive session on managing the patients with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders and also gave a snapshot on Ronald Sawers Hemophilia Centre activities.

Mrs. Sulochana Associate Professor and Mrs. Anjeline D’Souza, Assistant Professor, MCON, 沙巴体育 demonstrated Factor Replacement Therapy. Participants had hands on training on Implanted Central Venous Device (Port) in the Simulation Center. The participants expressed that such workshops should be conducted more often as they provide a platform for skill enhancement and also help in providing quality care to persons with hemophilia. ?
